Marta Shedletsky

Yoga Therapist & Health Coach

As a result of her own health challenges, Marta became passionate about natural healing and complementary modalities, which prompted her to study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and become a Holistic Health Coach. After graduating from the program, she helped her clients with nutritional and lifestyle changes.

Becoming a yoga teacher was the next step. Marta took her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training from The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre. She has also studied with Tara Rachel Jones, one of the pioneers of Children's Yoga, and received a 95-hour certificate to teach children and youth.

Marta's yoga students would often ask questions about yoga as a cure for various conditions. That's what made her decide to deepen her knowledge and become a yoga therapist. She pursued a four-year course of yoga therapy studies at Breathing Deeply, an IAYT-accredited school, where she learned how to apply yogic tools—postures, breath work, meditation, and lifestyle -- to be able to address an individual's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.

As a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), Marta specializes in addressing chronic and autoimmune conditions. She helps her clients with stress, anxiety, pain, fatigue, low energy, insomnia, and other symptoms they may experience.

In a multidimensional assessment, she considers all aspects of her clients' lives and how an issue in one area can affect other planes of a person's life's experience. Marta assists her clients in setting realistic and doable goals for their yoga therapy. Then she supports them on their healing journey by designing a comprehensive practice and guiding them through it. Marta understands and recognizes different circumstances that people may have, so all the protocols she gives them are crafted to meet their goals and fit her clients' schedules, lifestyles, and abilities.

Marta's intention is to empower her clients through education and customized practices to regain agency over their health. She sees how even the smallest successes motivate them. She feels joy every time she hears her clients reporting decreased stress, anxiety, pain, or autoimmune flare-ups, while experiencing better sleep, and feeling more connected and generally happier. Every time her work with a client comes to an end, she feels like an accomplished parent who knows their children have the skills and resilience they need to be successful.

Marta Shedletsky grew up in Poland, and in 1999 she moved to the United  States. She has two adult children, and lives in Yorktown Heights, NY, surrounded by nature with her daughter, husband, dog, and cat.

Marta strongly believes in yoga's healing and self-regulatory power and is passionate about introducing yoga to children, beginner adults, and those with limited resources. She teaches yoga and mindfulness in local schools and community centers. She teaches family and youth programs at The Sivananda Yoga Retreat in Nassau, The Bahamas, and The Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY.
