Marta Shedletsky
C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, RCYT

Yoga Therapist & Health Coach

As a result of her own health challenges, Marta became passionate about natural healing and complementary modalities, which prompted her to study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and become a Holistic Health Coach. After graduating from the program, she helped her clients with nutritional and lifestyle changes.

Becoming a yoga teacher was the next step. Marta took her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training from The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre. She has also studied with Tara Rachel Jones, one of the pioneers of Children's Yoga, and received a 95-hour certificate to teach children and youth.

Marta's yoga students would often ask questions about yoga as a cure for various conditions. That's what made her decide to deepen her knowledge and become a yoga therapist. She pursued a four-year course of yoga therapy studies at Breathing Deeply, an IAYT-accredited school, where she learned how to apply yogic tools—postures, breath work, meditation, and lifestyle -- to be able to address an individual's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Marta Shedletsky, a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), has devoted her practice to the transformative potential of yoga, with a particular emphasis on bone health and the prevention and reversal of osteoporosis. However, her holistic approach goes beyond the physical aspects of a condition.

We encounter multiple challenges as we journey through life's various stages and transitions, including the inevitable aging process. Marta addresses these multifaceted aspects of well-being, from the hormonal changes that come with these life transitions to the stress and anxiety that can accompany them.

As a yoga therapist, Marta brings her wealth of experience to address the physical symptoms and the mental and emotional aspects of chronic and autoimmune conditions that often become more prevalent as we age. She assists clients in managing and overcoming issues such as stress, anxiety, pain, fatigue, low energy, insomnia, loss and grieving, and more.

Marta's approach encompasses a comprehensive, multidimensional assessment, considering all facets of her clients' lives. She understands how challenges in one area can resonate throughout a person's well-being. Together with her clients, she sets realistic and achievable goals for their yoga therapy journey. She then guides them on a personalized healing journey, crafting comprehensive practices that include movement, breath work, meditation, relaxation methods, and lifestyle changes. These practices align with their objectives and help seamlessly integrate them into the clients' schedules, lifestyles, and abilities.

Marta empowers her clients through education and customized practices, enabling them to regain control over their health. She takes profound joy in witnessing even the smallest successes that motivate her clients. Reports of improved DXA scans, reduced stress, anxiety, pain, or autoimmune flare-ups, improved sleep, and an increased sense of connection and happiness inspire Marta in her work.

Originally hailing from Poland, Marta embraced the United States as her new home in 1999. She is a happy mother of two adult children and shares a home with her husband, daughter, dog, and cat in the idyllic surroundings of Yorktown Heights, NY, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

In her free time, Marta is an avid nature enthusiast. She finds solace in hiking through lush forests, camping beneath starlit skies, and challenging herself with rock climbing adventures. You can often find her engrossed in a good book. Marta is also a dedicated advocate for human and animal rights, embodying her commitment to making the world a better place for all living beings.

Marta's belief in yoga's healing and self-regulatory potential extends beyond her therapy practice. She is passionate about introducing yoga to diverse groups, including children, beginner adults, and those with limited resources. She actively teaches yoga and mindfulness in local schools and community centers. Additionally, Marta leads family and youth programs at The Sivananda Yoga Retreat in Nassau, The Bahamas, and The Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY.
